An Interview w/ Lady Sovereign

Pennies is one of my favorite tracks from the new album. The track seems to touch on the unglamorous side of the music industry -- being obsessed with making as much money as possible from artists. What is the track about?
There are a few people I've worked with - they know who they are - who are greedy little fuckers and have tried to rip me off. This song let's them know what I think of them. I wrote it in New York when i was surrounded by some of these people. It's a tough business to make a living from, especially with some of the wankers in the game. Just to be clear it's not about my old record label Def Jam, they were generally cool, it's about some nasty individuals.

On Bang Bang you mention "my ponytail is dead." Have you eliminated your ponytail for good? (I ask because I am a big supporter of the sideways ponytail.)
If it's dead, it's gone forever, RIP!! I had it for 10 years, time for a change. I like having my hair down now and putting funky colours in it. It cannot believe the outrage from fans for me changing my hairstyle... I mean after 10 years, I was due a change, right!?!?

The track So Human incorporates The Cure's Close To Me. This seems to be a big year for Cure love with the release of two tribute albums. Why did you decide to work Close To Me into Jigsaw?
It's a song I loved growing up, my parents played it loads. I've often found myself humming it so I thought, why not? It's a great hook. I'm not a huge fan of everything The Cure have done but I love that song.

On Jigsaw there's the new element of you singing which you touch base on with the track Guitar. Do you have any plans or interest in mastering any instruments in the future?
Yeah, I'm always picking up the guitar and plucking strings. When I get more time I'll focus on it cause it's definitely something I'd like to do.
